Born in Shanghai, P.R.China, I received both my BSc in applied mathematics (1985) and Diploma in Statistics (1987) from Fudan University in Shanghai. In September 1987, I went to Bath University, England to study on a Sino-British Friendship Scholarship. I passed my PhD viva in February 1990, under the supervision of Dr A.J. Hayter. I started lecturing in the Department of Mathematics, University of Southampton, UK in September 1990. I was promoted to Senior lecturer at Southampton in 1999.
My hobbies
I like to play sports. Soccer and squash are my favorites. We won the soccer game of the annual MINI-ASIA GAME at Southampton several times. I also like to listen to musics.
