The Student Academic Resource Center (SARC) provides a variety of academic support programs, including supplemental instruction, tutoring, and academic advising. The SARC staff offers individualized and small-group tutoring for students enrolled in traditionally difficult classes, such as biology, chemistry, foreign language, physics, statistics and many others.

Every semester, SARC offers College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) review workshops for the Math section of the CLAST. The SARC staff can also provide information on self-paced programs to assist students preparing for the Math section of the CLAST.
Gordon Rule Requirements

The Gordon Rule (State Rule 6A-10.30) applies to students who first enrolled in any college or university after October 1982. The rule requires students to complete 24,000 words of composition in four courses (12 semester hours) and to complete two courses (6 semester hours) of mathematics at the level of college algebra or higher. Each course must be completed with a grade of C or better. CLEP and other forms of credit may not be used to satisfy the composition portion of the Gordon Rule requirements.

For more information on how to satisfy Gordon Rule requirements contact your academic advisor.

College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST)

The College Level Academic Skills Test is designed to ensure that all students have achieved the communication and computation skills equivalent to those needed for successful completion of Lower Division (levels 1000 and 2000) classes. The State of Florida requires that all students seeking an Associate of Arts or Baccalaureate degree from UCF successfully pass the CLAST. The Student Academic Resource Center (SARC) offers CLAST Review Workshops for the Mathematics subtest.
