"I know you've heard it's over now and war must surely come, the cities they are broke in half and the middlemen are gone. But let me ask you one more time, oh children of the dusk, all these hunters who are shrieking now, oh do they speak for us?"

-- Leonard Cohen, 1968

I have been passionate about writing since I was 11 years old. Writing is something I do to survive. Writing happens. A whisper in my mind tells me at an unexpected moment that I should pick up a pencil and write. The words flow out. There is no end result or judging in this context. Writing is an exercize and a release of pressure. In an academic context, writing is a tool. It is a tool for entering into discourse with others. Writing helps me to see my own thoughts more clearly. During the process of writing an academic paper, my ideas and opinions about the world around me take shape. As a songwriter language helps me to express my inner-most creativity. For me, songwriting is the intersection of all the best aspects of writing.
