Sex Offenses
If
you are the victim of a sexual assault
University
Disciplinary Action Students charged with violations of "The Rules of Conduct" as stated in The Golden Rule will be given adequate notice of the charges and complaints against them and will be provided an opportunity to respond to these charges in a formal disciplinary hearing. Victims of sexual misconduct will be given the opportunity to speak to the circumstances surrounding the charges during this hearing and will be given the opportunity to offer comments regarding the sanctions imposed upon the charged student, should that student be found to have been in violation of university policies. In cases where an alleged offender's behavior poses a threat to the university community, the Director of Student Rights and Responsibilities, or designee, may immediately and summarily suspend the student from the university until a hearing can be convened to either confirm or cancel that immediate and summary suspension.
Both the alleged victim and the alleged offender will be given the
opportunity to be accompanied by an adviser at the disciplinary
hearing, and both will be informed of the decision and any sanctions
of the disciplinary hearing. Students found to have been in violation
of "The Judicial Process" in The Golden Rule. These alternatives
include disciplinary probation, suspension, or expulsion from the
university. University disciplinary proceeding may be held in instances
involved alleged sexual misconduct even when formal charges under
state law are not brought in the sate courts. Complete information
