SECURITY INSPECTION CHECKLIST FOR APARTMENTS AND RENTALS.

The following recommendations are encouraged for the Prospective Student in selecting an apartment.

1. Dead bolt locks on all unit entry doors. ___Y ___N

2. Eyeviews with 180 degree view. ___Y ___N

3. Anti-lift/slide devices on sliding door and windows. ___Y ___N

4. Strike Plate on doorframe with 2"-3" screws. ___Y ___N

5. Proper trimming of trees and shrubs (away from building and lights and eliminating hiding places). Not covering windows. ___Y ___N

6. Adequate security lighting. Be concerned with Lighting in Laundry Rooms, Parking Lots, Mailboxes, and Trash Dumpsters. ___Y ___N

7. Are apartment numbers visible from the street day or night? ___Y ___N

8. Are the Front Doors and Pathways well lit? ___Y ___N

9. Are fences in good condition? ___Y ___N

10. Does the apartment commmunity hire a law enforcement officer or security company at night? ___Y ___N

11. Does the apartment management require a background check for residential applicants? Do they use a private company or pay the $23.00 with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to do a criminal history check. ___Y ___N
