In a large urban public school district, a random sample of the percent of students in Algebra who pass are given below:

Percent 80 78 82 83 78 80 75 79 82 89 81 79 80 79 81 82 76 73 80 79 81 78 80 77

Use the CASIO *fx7400G *to draw a boxplot for these data and give the
five-number summary (Min, Q_{1}, Median, Q_{3}, Max) of the hours.

Turn on the **CASIO fx7400G.**

Use your cursor arrows to highlight the STAT menu and press or just press when at the main menu screen.

Use your cursor arrows to move to the first cell in List1 and enter the data given above. After entering a value make sure to press to go down to the next cell.

Now we have to set the viewing window for our boxplot.

Press (V-Window).

Set up the viewing window as follows:

Xmin: 58.5 Ymin: - 2.3

max: 97.5 max: 2.3

s c l: 5 s c l: 1

Press (GRPH)

Press (Green more key)

Press (SET )

Scroll down and set the parameters as follows:

StatGraph1

G-Type: Box Press if necessary.

XList: List1 Press if necessary.

Freq: 1 Press if necessary.

The boxplot will appear on the calculator screen.

Press (Trace)

Use the right cursor arrow to move the "cross hairs" to get the five number summary.

The minimum value (Min) is 73. The first quartile value ( Q_{1}
) is 78. The median value (Med) is 80. The third quartile value ( Q_{3} ) is 81.
The maximum value (Max) is 89.

Press (Trace)

This will terminate the trace and return you to the calculator screen having the 1VAR submenu on it.
