Dr. Whitten received her Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology at the University of Memphis. Her research interests include cognitive psychology, discourse processes, and educational psychology. Some research projects include how reader's are able to infer the theme of a story, comprehension and memory for song lyrics and science texts, the role of creativity on comprehension style, and social context of discourse processing.
