One 2-page essay is required for everyone in this course.

• If your last name begins with any letter A-M, your 2 page essay is due on: May 22

• If your last name begins with any letter N-Z, your 2 page essay is due on: May 29

Topics: TBA – see this page during the week that your essay is due.

• Topic(s) for May 22: In your justified view, does virtue theory/communitarianism lend itself to appropriate consideration of respect for individual people in the moral realm? In what way? Why do you hold this position?
• Topic(s) for May 29: In your justified view, does the individualism expressed in modern moral theories (such as those of Hobbes, Locke, Kant, and Mill) lend itself to effective or fully meaningful accounts of socially cooperative activity? In what way? Why do you hold this position?

Format:

• Send the essay by 9:00 p.m. on the due date
• The subject line of the e-mail should be “2 page essay, yourname” – for example, 2-page essay, John Smith
• Save and send the file in Word, .rtf or .txt format ONLY
• Line spacing: 1.5
• Margins: 1” all the way around.
• Use a legible font – 10 or 12 point
• You don’t need a cover page
