Who We Are:
We are an interdisciplinary research group at the UCF NanoScience Technology
Center, University of Central Florida.
The group is
dedicated to
develop novel nanomaterials for biomedical, environmental, energy and
agricultural applications. Our research team consists of researchers with
physics, materials science, chemistry, biotechnology and molecular biology &
microbiology backgrounds. We are developing application-specific engineered nanomaterials. Design, synthesis and surface modification of nanomaterials are done routinely. We perform systematic characterization of nanomaterials and develop synthesis protocols. In our lab, we do preliminary evaluation of our nanomaterials towards demonstrating any specific application followed by re-optimization of synthesis protocols. In-depth studies to evaluate performance of our materials are usually done in collaboration. Students and post-docs receive extensive training during nanomaterial development process that involves design, synthesis, characterization, quality control, and batch-to-batch reproducibility. In every step, they learn something new about nanoscience and they are constantly challenged.
To understand the power of nanoscience, develop nanomaterials with new/improved properties and transfer technology for the benefit of the society. Overall, we strive to build a solid foundation of knowledge in the area of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.
