DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

Hollywood Capri is an autobiographical film about my brief attempt at a Hollywood career.  As an independent filmmaker based in Boston, I had made a feature film, Mission Hill, which secured me some very good reviews, some festival prizes and the biggest prize of all, a Hollywood agent who was promising me entree into the Hollywood film scene.

Like many other filmmakers before me, I was completely unprepared for the bizarre world of Hollywood filmmaking.  At first I was appalled by its callous disregard of talent and aggressive pursuit of box-office success.  Unfortunately, the system began to seduce me with its promises of financial rewards, and I became obsessed with "making it" in Hollywood.  Six years later, with my marriage, my health and my finances almost destroyed I came to my senses.  The result is the film Hollywood Capri.
