Q: Do you have to have experience to be on the team?
A: No – We’ll teach you everything you need to know under the sun and more!

Q: When and where do you practice?
A: Practices are held Monday through Friday beginning at 5:00PM. Practices last between two to three hours.
Q: Do you have to be athletic or a certain body type?
A: No – We are a team of all shapes and sizes. Our members come from different backgrounds and various rowing experiences. Crew also has various categories of racing, including: Varsity, Novice, Lightweight, etc.
Q: How do you become a varsity team member?
A: By being on the team for two semesters, a rower can obtain varsity status.
Q: Can novice rowers be in varsity level boats?
A: Yes – Varsity rowers, though, may not be in novice boats. Every seat is worthy of any rower who works hard and proves himself in the areas of commitment, strength, technique, and the ability to learn and listen. Heart, attitude, and desire can also be deciding factors.
Q: Does the team travel out of town?
A: Yes – The team competes in various out of town, and out of state competitions/regattas. Many of these regattas are very prestigious.
Q: When does the season start and end?
A: In the fall, the long distance and endurance racing season is held. The sprint season is held in the spring. Official practices begin the first day of school for the appropriate season. During the off-season, athletes are expected to stay in shape by taking part in on-your-own training activities such as running, weightlifting, and eating right. Recommended workouts and exercises are provided towards the end of each semester.
