Includes indexing of The Advocate, Curve Magazine, The Gay & Lesbian Review Worldwide, GLQ: a Journal of Lesbian & Gay Studies, In the Family, Journal of Homosexuality, Lamda Book Report, Lesbian News, Off Our Backs, Psychotherapy Networker, RFD: a Country Journal for Queer Folks Everywhere.

Internet Resources for Gay & Lesbian Research & Studies (FIU Library) includes guidance that may be useful in searching the UCF Library catalog on WebLUIS.

Gender & Gay/Lesbian Studies (FAU Libraries Research Guides) was designed to aid in locating resources on gender and gay/lesbian studies in the Florida Atlantic University Boca Raton Library and may also be useful to individuals conducting research at UCF.

Campus Organizations

UCF Gay, Lesbian, & Bisexual Student Union (GLBSU) is a fellowship of men and women who share the common bond of interest in LBGT concerns.

ALLIES is a program created through the UCF Counseling Center for UCF students, staff and faculty members interested in showing visual support for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) persons at the university.

O-QUAC Orlando Queer Academics is a resource, organizational, and social group for GLBT academics and intellectuals. We meet on a regular basis in order to exchange resources and talk about our work in areas of sexuality, gender, and queer studies.

United Faculty of Florida, UCF Chapter - UCF Chapter Constitution, Article 2, Objectives, Section 4: "To combat all forms of discrimination based on age, disability, gender, marital status, national origin, political belief, race, religion, or sexual orientation in the University, the State University System, and society."  Note the UFF proposal for changes to Article 6, Nondiscrimination, in the collective bargaining negotiations.

Office of Diversity Initiatives provides comprehensive diversity education, training, consultation, curriculum transformation, programming, and prejudice reduction experiences, to support the University's goal of becoming more inclusive and diverse. Several of the training sessions include discussion about sexual orientation. Currently, the Office of Diversity Initiatives Resource Library includes 173 books, 191 videos, and 12 diversity training kits and games, some of which are GLBT related. These resources are available for faculty and staff use.

Equality Florida (EQFL) is a statewide education and advocacy organization dedicated to eliminating discrimination based on sexual orientation, race, class and gender (including identity and expression).

Pride At Work is a constituency group of the AFL-CIO (American Federation of Labor & Congress of Industrial Organizations) whose purpose is to mobilize mutual support between the organized Labor Movement and the LGBT Community around organizing for social and economic justice.

Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN) is the leading national organization fighting to end anti-gay bias in K-12 schools.

GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) is dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate, and inclusive representation of individuals and events in all media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.

Lamda Legal Defense & Education Fund is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, and people with HIV/AIDS through impact litigation, education, and public policy work.

The Gay Guide to Florida provides a directory of accommodations, activities, events, businesses, media, organizations, etc.

Queer Resources Directory 

Human Rights Campaign (HRC) - As America's largest gay and lesbian organization, the Human Rights Campaign provides a national voice on gay and lesbian issues. The Human Rights Campaign effectively lobbies Congress; mobilizes grassroots action in diverse communities; invests strategically to elect a fair-minded Congress; and increases public understanding through innovative education and communication strategies. HRC is a bipartisan organization that works to advance equality based on sexual orientation and gender expression and identity, to ensure that gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community.

National Gay & Lesbian Task Force is the national progressive organization working for the civil rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people, with the vision and commitment to building a powerful political movement.

PFLAG (Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays) is a national non-profit organization with over 80,000 members and supporters and more than 460 affiliates in the United States, including the Orlando Chapter. PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights.

Homosexuality & Bisexuality (Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance) provides a fairly balanced discussion of major issues.

Hate Groups?  There are some organizations spending an enormous amount of energy to fight against the development of loving, healthy gay individuals and relationships.  Knowledge is power, so you may want to discover what these groups are espousing in order to protect yourself from their attacks.  Some resources that generally advocate viewpoints different from those listed in the above sections of this webpage:
