- Academic Index (WebLUIS database)
indexes articles in approximately 1000 scholarly journals and popular magazines in the
arts, humanities, social sciences, science and technology. Abstracts are included for some
articles. Provides access to ASCII full text
of some articles. Dates of coverage: 1982+
Another version of this database, Expanded Academic ASAP (1980+ ) available through InfoTrac,
allows you to limit your search to refereed journals and this version is updated daily and
may have entries and full text that is somewhat more current; some articles have charts
and illustrations not included in the WebLUIS version.
- Academic Search Premier
(EBSCOhost database) provides abstracts and indexing for approximately 4,425 scholarly journals covering the
social sciences, humanities, education and more. Also offers full
text for over 3,460 journals including some journals dating back to the
mid-1970s.
Includes coverage of over 3,200 peer-reviewed journals.
- Gale Group/InfoTrac
databases, including:
Biography Resource Center combines award-winning biographies from
respected Gale Group sources and includes full-text articles from hundreds
of periodicals.
Literature Resource Center provides access to biographies,
bibliographies, and critical analyses of more than 120,000 authors from
every age and literary discipline.
- Humanities Abstracts
(FirstSearch database) indexes and abstracts
periodicals in archaeology, art, classics, film, folklore, journalism, linguistics, music,
the performing arts, philosophy, religion, world history, and world literature.

For earlier articles back to 1802, consult the print indexes in the UCF
Library beginning with Poole's
Index to Periodical Literature [Index AI3.P7] (1802-1906).
Poole's
Index... was followed by International Index to Periodicals (1907-1965), Social
Sciences & Humanities Index (1965-1974),
and Humanities Index (1974- ).
- LexisNexis Academic
provides full text articles from some regional magazines and newspapers and
selectively indexes the New York Times back to 1969. The UCF
Library also has the print New York Times Index [Index AI21.N44]
covering 1851 to the present.
- MLA Bibliography (FirstSearch
database) indexes critical literary and language scholarship and provides
access to over 4,000 journals and serials published worldwide, as well as
books, essay collections, working papers, proceedings, dissertations, and
bibliographies. The print index is available in the UCF Library at Index
PB6.M6222 (1970+) and earlier information (1921+) can be found in the
"American Bibliography" section of the Publications of the Modern
Language Association of America volumes in the General Collection PB6.M6.
Dates of electronic coverage: 1963+
- netLibrary provides over
20,000 full text ebooks for previewing or 2-hour checkout, including over
200 entries from the publisher Cliffs Notes.
