(WebLUIS database) indexes articles in approximately 1000 scholarly journals and popular
magazines in the arts, humanities, social sciences, science and technology. Abstracts are
included for some articles. Provides access to ASCII full
text of some articles. Dates of coverage: 1982+
Another version of this database, Expanded Academic ASAP (1980+ ) available
through InfoTrac, allows you to limit your search to
refereed journals and this version is updated daily and may have entries and
full text that is somewhat more current; some articles have charts and
illustrations not included in the WebLUIS version.
- Britannica Online
(Encyclopedia Britannica) - The online version of the encyclopedia includes maps, articles, and statistics on individual countries, and weekly background articles for news and current events.
- DataTimes (FirstSearch database)
provides abstracts for approximately 126 newspapers, 92 of which are regional U.S.
newspapers. The other 34 titles are from financial and regional newspapers published
outside the U.S. Dates of coverage: 1996+
- EBSCOhost Academic Search Elite
provides abstracts and indexing for over 3,200 scholarly journals covering the social
sciences, humanities, education and more. Also offers full
text for over 1,000 journals with many dating back to 1990. Includes
coverage of over 1,700 peer-reviewed journals.
- Ethnic Newswatch
(Softline) is a full-text collection of the
newspapers, magazines and journals of the ethnic, minority and native press.
- FactSearch (FirstSearch database)
is a guide to statistical statements on current social, economic, political, environmental
and health issues, derived from some newspapers, periodicals, newsletter and documents
such as the Christian Science Monitor, the Congressional Record,
Congressional hearings, Daily Press Briefings of the White House, State Department
and Department of Defense, and Australian, British and Canadian Parliamentary Debates.
Web links to free full text are included frequently.
- GPO Monthly Catalog (FirstSearch
database) consists of records published by the U.S. Government Printing Office since July
1976. Includes references to congressional committee reports and hearings, debates,
documents from executive departments, and more.
- JSTOR provides full text, page image from over 100
scholarly journals, including 10 political science journals, such as American
Journal of International Law (1907-1996), Political Science Quarterly
(1886-1995), Public Opinion Quarterly (1937-1994) and World Politics
(1948-1995).
- netLibrary provides approximately
20,000 full text ebooks for previewing or
2-hour checkout.
- Project MUSE provides full text from
over 100 scholarly journals in the humanities, social sciences, and mathematics, including
Human Rights Quarterly (1995+), Journal of Democracy (1995+), SAIS
Review (1995+), and World Politics (1995+).
- Science Direct provides the electronic full-text version of approximately
1,100 of
Elsevier's research journals, including approximately 80 social sciences titles, such as
Cities, Electoral Studies, Food Policy, Land Use
Policy, Resources Policy, and Transport Policy.
- Social Sciences Abstracts
(FirstSearch database) covers some 350 core periodicals in the fields of anthropology,
economics, geography, law and criminology, political science, social work, sociology, and
international relations. Dates of coverage: 1983+
- Sociological Abstracts
(Cambridge Scientific Abstracts database) covers an international selection of over 2,600
journals and other serials publications, plus conference papers, books, and dissertations.

- STAT-USA
(U.S. Dept of
Commerce) - State of the Nation
provides current and historical economic and financial releases and economic
data. GLOBUS & NTDB provide current and
historical trade-related releases, international market research, trade opportunities,
country analysis, and the National Trade Data Bank (NTDB).
- Universe databases
(CIS/Lexis-Nexis) - Congressional Universe gives researchers access to
vast and varied information published by and about Congress, including full text of almost all Committee Reports from
1990 forward and Congressional testimony from 1988 forward, and indexing &
abstracting from the CIS/Index to Publications of the U.S. Congress from 1970 forward. Statistical
Universe provides the full text of Statistical
Abstract of the U. S., plus indexing and abstracts (with some full text available)
from American Statistics Index (ASI), Statistical Reference Index (SRI),
and Index to International Statistics (IIS). Academic Universe
provides more than 9.5 million documents from over 18,300 sources, including access to
company profiles and financial reports, government transcripts, trade journals and
academic and legal databases. Their files are updated with full-text
documents from general interest wire services, newspapers, and magazines from around the
world.
- WilsonSelect (FirstSearch
database) contains indexed and abstracted articles from periodicals, all with ASCII full text online. The database includes records
from the following H.W. Wilson databases: Readers' Guide Abstracts, Social Sciences
Abstracts, Humanities Abstracts, General Science Abstracts and Wilson Business Abstracts.
