How to Access UCF Library Databases and Resources from off campus

• Academic Search Premier (EBSCOhost database) provides full text for nearly 4,600 publications, including full text for more than 3,500 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans virtually every area of academic study and offers information dating as far back as 1975.

• ComAbstracts provides abstracts for articles from 50 professional communication journals.
• Communication Studies (Sage via CSA database) provides full-text of 16 journals, covering Journalism, Public Opinion, Political Communication, Mass Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Cultural Studies / Intercultural Communication, Television / Film Studies, Media Studies, Business Communication, Organizational / Management Communication, Written Communication, Rhetoric, and Literacy Studies.
• Communication & Mass Media Complete (EBSCOhost database) indexes articles from communications publications. CMMC is the merged databases CommSearch and Mass Media Articles Index.

• FactSearch (FirstSearch database) is a guide to statistical statements on current social, economic, political, environmental and health issues, derived from some newspapers, periodicals, newsletter and documents such as the Christian Science Monitor, the Congressional Record, Congressional hearings, Daily Press Briefings of the White House, State Department and Department of Defense, and Australian, British and Canadian Parliamentary Debates. Web links to free full text are included frequently.

• Ethnic Newswatch (Softline database) - a full-text collection of the newspapers, magazines and journals of the ethnic, minority and native press.

• JSTOR provides full text from over 300 scholarly journals, such as: Demography (1964-2001), Population Studies (1947-2000),and Public Opinion Quarterly (1937-1999).

• LexisNexis databases (CIS/Lexis-Nexis): Congressional gives researchers access to vast and varied information published by and about Congress, including full text of almost all Committee Reports from 1990 forward and Congressional testimony from 1988 forward, and indexing & abstracting from the CIS/Index to Publications of the U.S. Congress from 1970 forward. Statistical provides the full text of Statistical Abstract of the U. S., plus indexing and abstracts (with some full text available) from American Statistics Index (ASI), Statistical Reference Index (SRI), and Index to International Statistics (IIS).  Academic provides more than 9.5 million documents from over 18,300 sources, including access to company profiles and financial reports, government transcripts, trade journals and academic and legal databases. Their files are updated with full-text documents from general interest wire services, newspapers, and magazines from around the world. 

• netLibrary provides over 30,000 full text ebooks for previewing or 2-hour checkout.

• Sociological Abstracts (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts database) - a primary resource from an international selection of over 2,600 journals and other serials publications, plus conference papers, books, and dissertations. Records added after 1974 contain in-depth and nonevaluative abstracts of journal articles. Dates of coverage: 1963+
• World News Connection provides full text English-language translations or summaries of newspaper articles, television and radio broadcasts, periodicals, conference proceedings, and reports. Strong coverage of local media sources. Created by the Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS).
