Essay & General Literature Index (WebLUIS Index) - indexes essays and articles that have been published in collections as books. It is a good source of literary criticism published in books rather than in periodical articles. The print index is available in the UCF Library at Index AI3.E752 Dates of coverage: print, 1900+; electronic, 1985+
America: History & Life (ABC-CLIO) - indexes over 2,000 international journals, books, and dissertations on the history and culture of the United States and Canada from prehistoric times to the present. The electronic counterpart to the printed America: History and Life. Dates of coverage: 1964+
Historical Abstracts (ABC-CLIO) - Abstracts and indexes literature covering countries other than the United States and Canada in the subject areas of history, the social sciences and humanities. The scope of coverage is World History (1450 - present) and related areas including culture, diplomacy, economics, international relations and politics. Dates of coverage: 1954+
Literature Resource Center (GaleNet) - provides access to biographies, bibliographies and critical analysis of authors from every age and literary discipline, covering more than 90,000 novelists, poets, essayists, journalists and other writers, with in-depth coverage of 2,000 of the most-studied authors.
Biography & Genealogy Master Index (GaleNet) - is a comprehensive index to nearly 12 million biographical sketches in more than 2700 volumes and editions of current and retrospective reference books, covering both contemporary and historical figures throughout the world.
MLA Bibliography (FirstSearch database) - Indexes critical literary and language scholarship and provides access to over 4,000 journals and serials published worldwide, as well as books, essay collections, working papers, proceedings, dissertations, and bibliographies. The print index is available in the UCF Library at Index PB6.M6222 (1970+) and earlier information (1921+) can be found in the "American Bibliography" section of the Publications of the Modern Language Association of America volumes in the General Collection PB6.M6. Dates of electronic coverage: 1963+
WilsonSelect (FirstSearch database) - contains indexed and abstracted articles from periodicals, all with ASCII full text online. The database includes records from the following H.W. Wilson databases: Readers' Guide Abstracts, Social Sciences Abstracts, Humanities Abstracts, General Science Abstracts and Wilson Business Abstracts. Dates of coverage: 1994+
Humanities Abstracts (FirstSearch database) - Abstracts and indexes periodicals in archaeology, art, classics, film, folklore, journalism, linguistics, music, the performing arts, philosophy, religion, world history, and world literature. Articles from earlier years are indexed in Poole's Index to Periodical Literature (Index AI3.P7 - 1802-1906), International Index to Periodicals (Index AI3.R49 - 1907-1965), Social Sciences & Humanities Index (Index AI3.R49 - 1965-1974), and Humanities Index (Index AI3.R493 - 1974+). Dates of coverage: 1984+
Arts & Humanities Citation Index (Web of Science) - is a multidisciplinary database that indexes 1,144 of the world's leading arts and humanities journals, as well as covering individually selected, relevant items from over 6,800 major science and social science journals. Dates of coverage: 1977+

Index to Early American
Periodicals - covers all known periodical publications that had their
inception and ending from 1741 to 1935. The full text of the actual periodicals are in the
UCF Library in three microfilm collections (often referred to as APS I, APS II and APS
III). The electronic index is incomplete but growing. You may find the CD-ROM
version available in the Library's Electronic Reference Area easier to use. The print
index provides limited subject access to the complete series and is shelved in the UCF
Library's Reference Collection at REF AP2.A388.
