- More than 3800 communities in the United States held a Relay For Life.
- 3 Million Americans participated in Relay For Life events.
- 500,000 cancer survivors walked in the opening laps.
- Relay For Life events are held in all 50 states and in sixteen other countries.
- Relay For Life events in the U.S. raised approximately $300 million to battle cancer.
- This year Relay For Life reached 1 billion dollars raised since it’s beginning in 1985.
- Relay For Life accounts for 30% of the American Cancer Society’s annual income.
- In Florida, 165 Relay For Life events raised more than $12.5 million
2003-2004
- Florida has set a goal to host Relay For Life events in over 218 communities.
- Florida’s fundraising goal this coming year is $15.5 million.
- Relay’s are 18 to 24 hours in length and are overnight.
- Teams consist of 10 to 15 people.
- Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event.
- Relay For Life celebrates survivors; funds research advancements and cancer education.
