Commentary consists of general and specific discussion of the many areas of substantive and procedural law. The cases are illustrative.

As in any introduction to a scholarly discipline, the study of law begins with the acquisition of terms of art, often called 'words and phrases' in legal resources.

I caution the beginning student of law to beware the special language of the law. Sloppy use of language has been the demise of many a lawyer. Words are used with special significance that can often only be gleaned through a close scrutiny of cases and statutes.
