Attention:
We had a very productive last Wednesday March 20th.
There will be opportunity for us to participate with Congrés, which is April 11,12, and 13.
The French club is volunteering there and if any of you are interested in going either day
please let me know. It would be a great help! Think about your schedule for these days, as
we will have a sign up at our next meeting that will be this Wednesday March 26th at 1pm at
the Barnes and Noble Café. If you are wondering what we will be doing in Congrés, well,
for the most part, we will be escorting kids and opening doors and stuff...nothing too hard.
Please try to attend if you have not participated in another service event. (Even if you
have, we need all the help we can get!)
Tutoring:
The French Club has offered to share their cubical with us. This cubical is located at the
Student Union at the OSA office and the number is 6A. This means that from now on we will
not be having our tutoring hours at the language lab. Your scheduled tutoring hour will stay
the same, but just make sure to go to OSA cubical 6A. It is located at the Student Union-
second floor.
Scholarships are being offered!
As you are probably aware, the French Department each year offers scholarship money to those
students who are going to study abroad either for the summer or the semester. The name of
the scholarship is “Rudy Douglas Scholarship Fund.” We need to raise money for the Douglas
Rudy Foundation. Because Douglas Rudy was a student, we feel it important for students to
give to this worthy cause. For those of you who don't know what the Douglas Rudy Foundation
is, look for a follow-up e-mail
as this e-mail is already long enough :) If you want to donate money to the “Rudy Douglas
Scholarship Fund” make checks payable to “La Societé Francophone” and if you want to apply
for this scholarship you can contact Dr. Marie Leticée.
Relay for Life
The French Honor Society (and French Club) Relay for Life team is holding a carwash Saturday,
March 30 at
the Wal-Mart on colonial drive. If you are participating in Relay, please try to come help
out.
The hours are 9-5. If you aren't participating, bring your car out there and have it washed.
Please help us raise money for the fight against cancer.
