ENROLLED GRADUATE STUDENTS

INSTRUMENT - Graduating Master's and Doctoral Student Survey
Developed by UCF, revised by the Office of Operational Excellence and Assessment Support (OEAS)

RESPONDENTS - Census survey of currently enrolled graduating Master's Doctoral and Certificate students.

PURPOSE - Measures satisfaction with different aspects of students' experiences.

USE OF DATA - Program and unit planning and assessment of Institutional Effectiveness Objectives. Continuous improvement. Longitudinal Studies.

INFORMATION COLLECTED - Background information, satisfaction with academic experience, courses and instructors, university advising, financial support, services and facilities, and personal growth in skills and knowledge.

ADMINISTRATION CYCLE AND AVAILABLE DATA - Data will be collected each Summer, Fall and Spring term. Students complete the survey when they pick up their Intent to Graduate form in their college's graduate studies administration office. Results are compiled and distributed on an annual basis following Spring semester. Recently, this survey was revised and programmed onto a Scantron form. The Scantron format facilitates the processing of results so this survey can now be administered to all UCF graduates during the Summer, Spring and Fall semesters (not just in the Spring as in past years). The Master's and Doctoral Student Survey was revised to provide an opportunity for programs to collect more detailed information to measure program specific outcomes. Space was added to the Scantron form for individual programs to record the responses of 20 close-ended and three open-ended questions specific to their needs. If your program would like to add program specific questions to this survey or discuss this option, please contact Pat Lancey at plancey@mail.ucf.edu. Data Sets: 1994-2000 (Spring only) Every semester starting Fall 2001 (Reported Annually after the Spring semester - by mid August).

INSTRUMENT - Student Satisfaction Inventory (SSI)
An established survey developed by Noel Levitz, Inc.

RESPONDENTS - A representative random sample of currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students. Classes are selected based on the distribution of the students' class levels, time of day, course offering and college major. The February 2001 sample consisted of approximately 600 undergraduate and graduate students at the UCF Main, Brevard and Daytona Campuses.

PURPOSE - Measures student satisfaction.

USE OF DATA - Student retention; student recruitment; strategic planning and institutional effectiveness.

INFORMATION COLLECTED - Ratings on importance of and satisfaction with various aspects of campus. The survey covers most aspects of student experience. The survey includes services such as advising, campus life, academic support services, financial aid, registration as well as instructional effectiveness. In addition to offering data from UCF students, the results may be compared to a national comparison group of four-year public institutions that also administered the SSI survey.

ADMINISTRATION CYCLE AND AVAILABLE DATA - Every three years in the spring. Data Sets: 1998 and 2001.

INSTRUMENT - Core Alcohol and Drug Survey
