In order to better serve our Communication Sciences and Disorders majors who intend to pursue their Doctor of Audiology we are now accepting applications for the first Audiology Representative for NSSLHA. If you are interested in this position, please fill out an application (available at the Communication Disorders office and the first meeting) and return it to the Communication Disorders office and ask them to place it in the NSSLHA mailbox.
Book Scholarship Available!
Two book scholarships for the Spring 2010 semester will be awarded to one undergraduate and one graduate student with outstanding membership status. Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!
Cords for graduation
This year, NSSLHA will be honoring its’ members with custom NSSLHA cords for graduation. They are available to any undergraduate or graduate with outstanding member status. The requirements for these cords are as follows:
If graduating in the present semester, the member must be eligible for the Certificate of Excellence (12 points)
If graduating in the next semester, the member must have been eligible for ANY certificate (Recognition, ___, or Excellence) in the previous semester and the current semester. (EX: If graduating Spring 2010, you must have any certificate from Fall 2009 AND Fall 2010)
You have held a NSSLHA officer position within the past five years.

Fundraising
Don’t forget about our fundraiser for both PALS and UCF NSSLHA with the coupon cards. Each card is $10. The card has various discounts at local dining places around the UCF Orlando area such as: Checkers, Arby’s, Bangkok Square, Taco Bell, Two Guys Pizzeria, Smoothie King, Backyard Burger, Quiznos, Planet Smoothie, Silvermine Subs, Houlihan’s, Rj Gators, Boston Coffee House, Smokey Bones, and NYPD Pizza. They are perfect for new UCF students! Purchasing one of these cards will give NSSLHA members 2 points! (Maximum pts: 2).

Social
Holding a chair position for NSSLHA is a great feature to anyone’s resume! If you are interested in becoming a chair member, please fill out an application and submit it to the Communication Disorders office and ask them to place it in the NSSLHA mailbox. In order to become a chair, you must run an event of your choosing. This opportunity is available to both undergraduate and graduate students and will award 3 NSSLHA points. If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact Megan Glancy at nsslhavpin@gmail.com. For the month of September NSSLHA will be hosting a social in order to allow members to greet and meet! NSSLHA will be hosting a bowling event Tuesday, September 8th at 8:00 pm. The cost is $5. Please reserve your spot by Friday, September 5th at noon. October 3rd tailgating event…details to come soon!
Outside events
This month NSSLHA will be participating in two events. The first one being Sort and Awe from Hands On Orlando on September 26 from 9:00am-12:00pm. At this event we are needed to help victims of disasters by sorting blankets, towels, clothing and other household items. In just three hours, you’ll be able to help hundreds of people who desperately need your helping hands. Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. No special skills are required; just bring your smile and desire to make a difference. Sign up times are from 9:00am-10:30am and 10:30am-12:00pm.
The other event is the UCP Holloway Babysitting on September 24, 2009. You will be needed from 6:00-8:45 pm. During this time you will be babysitting children with/without disabilities. The address is:
