Getting Started (8-05)

This course operates out of the concept of a learning community in which members have mutual responsibilities to self as well as other members of the community. To facilitate this approach to learning, you will be required to create a biographical capsule to post along with your photo on the class ecommunity page. The purpose of this exercise is to help students begin to know each other as well as to provide a means of contacting each other for group projects. 

  To begin, go to  http://ecommunity.ucf.edu

If you have not previous accessed this page, click on Help to find your NID and get your password. Then:

 A. Make sure that your email address is correct. You will need it for group presentations and for communicating with the instructor. 

 B. Provide a photo, either your ID photo or one of your choosing. DO NOT substitute a graphic.  

Once you're into the site, click on Profiles and follow the directions there. Your profile should comprise one paragraph written in complete sentences and include the following information:

1. Your name

2. Your date and place of birth

3. Your high school 

4. Your current major(s)/minor(s)

5. Your current career aspirations 

6. An accomplishment in your life

7. Something that makes you unique. You can phrase it as an invitation to get to know you: "Ask me about ….." 

You will be required to complete this exercise as a part of the preliminary module which you must complete to gain access to your first exam. The preliminary module assignment is worth 10 points participation credit.
