The Boys Scouts of America is currently recruiting college students for internship positions.  Preference will be given to first or second semester seniors.  Students will have the opportunity to work 20 hours a week under the leadership of a mentor, learn about the responsibilities, work environment and culture of the organization, etc., and earn $1500 stipend for the semester.

Gillette/National Urban League (NUL) Scholarship and Intern Program
Gillette/NUL is currently accepting applications for the 2001 Scholarship and Intern Program.  The program is intended to encourage academically talented minority students to complete their college education and to provide these students with practical experience and exposure to employment opportunities within the Gillette Company.  A number of scholarships in the amount of $10,000, along with paid summer internships at on of several Gillette divisions, are offered annually.  Eligibility criteria are as follows: undergraduate minority students enrolled in full-time studies leading to a Bachelor's Degree at an accredited institution of higher learning who will be classified as a junior or third-year student at the time the scholarship award

National Science Foundation: Graduate Research Fellowship Program
The NSF will award approximately 900 new Graduate Research Fellowships to support graduate study in science, mathematics, and engineering. The NSF contracts Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) to provide support services for the annual competition of the prestigious fellowship program. Awards will be announced March 2002. Each three year fellowship provides a stipend of $20,500 for 12-month tenure, and a cost-of-education allowance of $10, 500 per tenure year. For additional information, contact:

National Research Council (NRC)
The National Research Council (NRC) is pleased to announce the Postdoctoral Research Associateship Programs for 2001. The programs provide opportunities for Ph.D., Sc.D. or M.D. scientists and engineers of unusual promise and ability to perform research on problems largely of their own choosing, yet compatible with the research interests of the sponsoring laboratory.

Newhouse Fellow Program
The Newhouse School of Public Communications, Syracuse University is currently accepting applications to the Newhouse School newspaper master's degree program.  Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and member of an under-represented group: African America, Hispanic/Latino, Native American or Asian; have an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in a field other than journalism; have an undergraduate grade average of B or better; and submit application materials for admission to the Newhouse School master's degree program in newspaper journalism. Newhouse Fellows receive free tuition for master's level study in newspaper journalism at Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications; Part-time reporting and editing student internship at the Syracuse Post-Standard or Herald-Journal during graduate school; $1,100 monthly stipend; health insurance coverage; moving expenses to Syracuse up to $1,500; Travel expenses to professional conferences up to $800; academic expenses up to $1,000; full-time paid professional internship after graduation for one year as a reporter at aNewhouse newspaper.

Native American Congressional Internship Program
The Morris K. Udall Foundation established the Native American Congressional Internship Program to give Native American college students an opportunity to learn about the federal government from the inside.  This program will provide people of Native American ancestry with practical experiences in the legislative process, congressional matters, and governmental proceedings. To be eligible applicants must be an enrolled member of a recognized tribe; be a college junior, senior, graduate students, law student or graduating from a tribal college; have a minimum 3.0 GPA or "B" average; and have an interest in tribal government and policy.  Interns are provided with, airfare to and from Washington, D.C.; dormitory lodging at a local university; daily allowance sufficient for meals, transportation, and incidentals; and a $1,200 educational stipend to be paid at the conclusion of the internship.  For additional information please stop by the MASS office for packet and application.

Organization of Chinese American, INC. (OCA)
OCA is a national, non-profit, civil rights advocacy organization for Asian Americans.  OCA seeks to ensure equal justice and opportunities for Asian Americans, to promote greater understanding of Asian culture, and to improve the image of Asian Americans.  The internship program places students in the OCA National Office, congressional offices, and federal agencies.  Internships are available for Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters. 

Tampa Bay Lightning

Television Production/Promotions Internship
Resumes are currently being accepted for an internship with UPN 65.  This part-time, one semester internship opportunity will assist producers with coordination & production of Central Florida's newest community affairs show, Orlando Matters.  Aid in the set-up, production, and strike of  various in-studio, and field-location shoots, both commercial and promotion related. Assist Promotions Director with various projects (i.e. promotion scheduling, inventory maintenance, contests, web site, research).  Responsible for daily quality check and logging of network and syndication feed tapes and print material. Gain knowledge of, and be able to work with professional broadcast equipment, such as Beta SP machines and cameras, linear and non-linear editing systems lighting instruments, and audio console and accessories.  Miscellaneous office work as needed. Requirements:   Must be a student currently enrolled at an accredited college or university, preferably seeking a degree in communication, broadcast television or a comparable field.  Candidates should be able to use Miscrosoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and the Internet.  Experience with professional broadcast equipment and graphic applications a plus.  This is a non-paying internship, but does require student to receive credit from the school.

UPN 65 is the United Paramount Network affiliate broadcasting throughout Central Florida.  Station owned by United Television Inc., a national television broadcast group.

The Golf Channel
The Golf Channel is currently accepting applications for an intern.  The position is a non paid internship for three talk shows: Viewer's Forum, Golf Talk Live and Academy Live.  Interns will learn how to work under pressure, become involved in every aspect of the show and learn how to mange with deadlines.  Minimum requirements: prefer a student willing to work as a full time inter, but not necessary; golf experience/knowledge a plus; must be willing to work a noon to 9:00 p.m. schedule.  For additional information, or to apply please contact Danielle Williams at (407) 248-3311. 

United States Olympic Committee Intern Program (USOC)
The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) is currently accepting applications from eligible students for internship positions for the 2001 Summer Session.  The internship sites are at Colorado Springs, Colorado; Lake Placid, New York and Chula Vista, California.  To be eligible for the USOC program, individuals must have completed at least two years of college and be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited U.S. college or university with an expected graduation date no earlier than August 2001.  Announcement sheet with additional information is available at Multicultural Academic & Support Services, AD 145.
