A senior course in the civil and environmental engineering department which covers design, planning, and analysis problems associated with the storage, collection, processing, and disposal of solid and hazardous wastes. Course content includes internet access to class handouts, lecture materials, assignments, and on-line homeworks. Spring 1994 to present

Groundwater Hydrology: Instructor
A graduate course in the civil and environmental engineering department which covers theories of groundwater movement, geological factors, analysis and design techniques, etc. This course is currently under development for Summer 1998.

Florida Bioreactor Landfill Demonstration Project
Responsibilities include directing the design, testing, purchasing and installation of equipment for the remote measurement of moisture content, temperature, liquid levels, leachate flow rates, and meteorological conditions as well as experiment design, mathematical modeling, and data evaluation. The overall project budget is $3.2x106 to be spent over five years.
9/98 to 5/99 Research Associate: University of Central Florida
Pathways of Mercury in Solid Waste Disposal
A multi-disciplinary project examining the release of mercury at various stages during waste disposal conducted in conjunction with the Oak Ridge National Laboratories with funding from both the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Energy. Responsibilties included site preparation and co-ordination for the ORNL team, experiment design, development and implementation of waste sorting protocol, advisement on waste issues, and data evaluation.

Evaluation of the Effect of Leachate Recirculation on the Dona Juana Landfill Disaster
Modeled the leachate recirculation practices at the Dona Juana Landfill to determine leachate routing characteristics and evaluate the likelihood that recirculation caused excessive pore water pressures resulting in slope failure.

Graduate Research Assistant: University of Central Florida. Conducted mathematical modeling of the hydrodynamic behavior of landfill leachate recirculation systems. Directed construction of a one-acre landfill which included a remote sensing station for the measurement of moisture contents within the waste mass.

Graduate Research Assistant: University of Central Florida. Investigated hydrodynamics of landfill leachate recirculation systems using commercial software.
