Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my UCF Web site. Students should check the site regularly for updates. Obtain syllabi and course timelines by clicking the Courses link on the left side of this page.

My Classes

I make documentaries, and I help my film students make theirs. We talk about the importance of story and developing a special relationship with the people that story is about. We talk about notions of the truth and how to best express truth through creative expression.

My classes are informal and I approach students holistically. I want to help my students become better citizens of this planet and find ways to tell their stories in a meaningful way.

I enjoy the research part of the process and try to lead my students to original sources. I help them understand copyright rules and respect for other artists and their original work.

Technology can be intimidating, especially if you don't have a lot of money. I try to demystify the production process and lead by example in finding the most resourceful way to solve a problem. Girls, get ready, because I'm going to put the camera in your hands.

Join me. If you'd like to know more about my films, please visit my Web site: www.lisamillsfilms.com.

My Research

I am currently conducting research about creativity with Film Professor Randy Finch.  My area of research for my Ph.D. is political communication and I have conducted several studies on media coverage of political advertising.
