Switzerland

Chocolate, cheese, watches, mountains…… and so much more!

Experience Switzerland’s cultural richness and natural beauty. Join the Lockheed Martin/UCF Academy organized trip to Switzerland June 30- July 8, 2006.

Some of the highlights of the trip are the city of Zurich, Europe’s largest water falls on the Rhine River, the city of Lucerne and a boat ride on Lake Lucerne, climbing Mount Pilatus aboard the world’s steepest cogwheel train, and the Glacier Garden.

For itinerary, cost, and further information, see our flyer or watch a short presentation.

Other envisioned activities include a conference that links children’s literature with Mathematics and Science concepts. More on this project will be posted in the near future.

On November 11, 2005, the Lockheed Martin/UCF Academy for Mathematics and Science hosted its first Drive-In Conference for K-12 teachers who teach Mathematics. Twelve presenters shared their experiences and best practices with colleagues teaching at public and private schools in Brevard, Flager, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Volusia counties. The conference also featured Dr. David Rock as keynote speaker. Dr. Rock, Education department chair at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, entertained the crowd with his thought-provoking presentation “Math is not a four letter word!”
