T-MAST Genesis

In 1992 Lockheed Martin (then Martin Marietta) funded the Lockheed Martin/UCF Academy which housed a Master of Education for practicing teachers who taught mathematics or science in grades K-8 The K-8 program has been extremely successful Because of the success of the K-8 program and the good stewardship of the endowment, Lockheed Martin approached UCF about expanding programs to promote excellence in mathematics and science teaching

• Transition to Mathematics and Science Teaching was designed

• Orange County Public Schools joined the partnership

• Toyota USA Foundation funded the first two years of T-MAST
  

• The first T-MAST cohort graduated in 2004
