Linda S. Futch

Lead Instructional Designer

In January 1998, I began working with UCF's Course Development & Web Services as a graduate intern. My project was to begin the 'infamous' WebCT manual. As a result the internship, I am now a full-time employee with CD&WS.

I was born in Orlando and grew up in Titusville around the space industry, which qualifies me as a native Floridian. My B.A. degree is in secondary education/business from UCF. Upon graduation, however, I gravitated toward business, moved to Atlanta, and worked in the insurance industry. My education inclinations were not subdued for long as they emerged through staff training and writing technical manuals.

In 1993, I decided to make a career change so I returned to Florida and the education field. I spent the next few years working at Brevard Community College and Astronaut High School teaching computer applications, keyboarding, beginning accounting, etc. During this period, I also began the Instructional Technology-Instructional Systems program at UCF and graduated with an M.A. in May 1998.

In both the business world and education, I evaluated instructional needs, designed instructional materials, wrote technical manuals and taught employees/students. These skills were further enhanced through the master's program and working at CD&WS. Now I am beginning the Ph.D. program in Curriculum and Instruction.
