ΛΑΕ 2003 Date Auction

On February 22, 2003 ΔΖΩ held the second annual Amy Kuritar-Lohrmann Memorial Scholarship date auction. This year's auction was a a bigger success than last years auction as we raised over $1000 dollars for the scholarship fund.  The first winner of the Scholarship was also announced.

This year we had the pleasure of hearing from three criminal justice professionals who see domestic violence from different perspectives.  From left to right we had Chris Sharp, who was Amy's partner in probations, in the center is Christine Mouton, director of Victim Services on the UCF campus, and finally Dr. Ross Wolf, a chief deputy at the Orange County Sheriff's Office.  We thank these three for educating the nearly 100 people that were on hand in this domestic tragedy.

This year we were also honored by the presence of Amy's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Kuritar.  They traveled to UCF to spend the evening with the organization that Amy was a part of during her years at UCF.  The Kuritar's also had the privilege of announcing the winner of the Scholarship for the Fall 2003 semester.  That winner pictured with them is Emily Goettelman.

Angie Monk reprised her role as auctioneer and can be seen here presenting the Kuritar's with a certificate of our appreciation.  On the right is Amy Monk, Angie's little sister (well ok, she is taller than Angie so maybe Angie is the little sister).  Amy Monk performed some of her original songs during the breaks in the auctions.

Below are some candid shots from the Auction.

Even Chris Sharp got in on the auction action, sacrificing his dignity for charity.

Here he is, working it for the crowd, and if I remember correctly, his wife ended up with the high bid.

I would like to take this opportunity to recognize our special guests this evening.  In the left end photo is Chris Sharp, Emily Goettelman, and Mr. & Mrs. Kuritar.  In the center are the ladies from Seminole County Probation,  Finally on the right is the Monk family, Angie, Amy and Mr. & Mrs Monk.  Thanks to all for their efforts.

And of Course, what auction would be complete without a raffle and door prizes.
