PREREQUISITES FOR ECO3411:
A previous Stat course or Quantitative Tools I (Eco 3401)
TEXT FOR ECO3411: A package (ISBN #
0-536-60277-8) ncluding text, statistics package and study guide:
White-Xander-White, Applied Business &
Economic Statistics: A Computer Integrated Approach.
Pearson, 3rd ed.
1999. Included
with text is a Windows version of Minitab
, a
sophisticated statistical package which can be used on home
computers. Warning: do not purchase a text without Minitab and
do not purchase a used version of the text without a virus scan
plus knowledge that you are in possession of the complete package
(no sections are missing).
EXAMS: There will be 3 multiple choice exams with at least 35
questions each. If an exam is missed a comprehensive final will
be taken during the scheduled final exam time (listed above). It
will be weighted the same as the missed exam. The comprehensive
final cannot be taken to make up for a poor performance on one of
the three exams. There will be no other makeup examinations
given. Exams will be kept for your review no later than 2
weeks after an exam is given. Because of the size of the
class no questions will be allowed during the exam. If a problem
exists an adjustment will be made after the exam is taken. You
will be allowed to sit anywhere during the lecture but on exam
days you will be given an exam as you enter BA 119 and you will
be seated consecutively beginning in the front of the room.
GRADING SCALE: A: 89+, B:
77-88, C: 65-76, D: 50-64
Note: Your grade will be determined by adding the number of questions correctly answered on the three exams. Thus, if your total points(number of correctly answered questions on the 3 exams) equals 89 or more points you will receive an A in the class, 77 to 88 points will earn a B, etc. Note that each test will contain at least 35 questions, so the number of possible points in the course will be at least 105. Do you want to add your current total points using an online calculator?
CALCULATOR: An inexpensive calculator
is required for in-class computations.
TEST FORMS: For exams you
must purchase and use the red Examsystem test forms. These are
available at the local bookstores.
HOMEWORK: Assignments will be given in
class and will involve computer analysis, but due to the size of
the class will not be collected.
It is recommended that before taking each exam you try and master the trial multiple choice questions(Questions 21-40) that appear in the Study Guide.
