Kelvin and Derwood Have Roadtrip Adventure June, 2004 - Boca Raton, FL Not to be outdone by Wendy and her dad, John's, racetrack adventures, Kelvin and his dad, Derwood, set out on the open road. Amid newspaper articles detailing the deadliness of Florida's turnpike, Derwood and Kelvin travelled the turnpike from Orlando to Boca Raton in search of one friend's car parts being stored at another friend's home. Along the way their buddy-movie type adventures included playing with Derwood's talking, computerized road atlas, discussing Florida's geography and topography, laughing at the Turnpike System's "Burma-Shave" style signs promoting their electronic toll pass service, and stopping for gas and snacks at what Kelvin referred to as "interesting" convenience store stops. Once back in Orlando, Derwood and Kelvin were joined by Wendy in celebrating their escape from the fiery clutches of death on the turnpike by going out to eat.       Return to Halfbaked Headlines
