Kelvin Says "Go" and Wendy Says "No!" July, 2001 - Tofino, BC With a deep breath and contented sigh in the cool summer weather, Kelvin expressed his desire to move to Tofino. Rolling her eyes, Wendy was heard to mutter, "Are you nuts? We are not moving to British Columbia! The nearest mall is three hours away!!" Extending a conference trip to Vancouver to a long vacation weekend, Wendy and Kelvin visited Vancouver Island, British Columbia (not the same as the city of Vancouver) where they stayed in a fishing-village-turned-eco-tourism-hot-spot called Tofino. The clear, brisk climate in the midst of summer brought a constant smile to Kelvin's face.
While in Tofino, Wendy and Kelvin stayed in a quaint, glass-walled cottage surrounded by a rain forest a stone's throw from a charming "undeveloped" beach (not like Florida!). Green mountains, lakes, rivers, seashores, and even bears could be seen all around. Back in Florida, Kelvin has occasionally been heard pining for Tofino. Wendy usually remarks with a smirk, "It's good to have dreams." |
