Kelvin & Wendy: Newsletter: 2001: Pasta Search

Thompson Cult Solicits Pasta

March, 2001 - Winter Springs, FL

The small group (see previous newsletter and this site) meeting at Kelvin and Wendy's home marched down the church aisles waving boxes of macaroni and cheese while chanting along to strains of Yankee Doodle. This odd looking little band was announcing a ministry project they called "Macaroni March" (see information this site).

The group had contacted a local organization called The Christian Sharing Center that provides tangible assistance to families in need. Oddly enough the request made by the Sharing Center was for macaroni and cheese. As it turns out, macaroni and cheese is a stable that the Sharing Center has a difficult time keeping on the shelves of their food bank.

The small group conceptualized a drive during the month of March for macaroni and cheese within the church with which the group is affiliated. Thanks to the generosity of the church members, the food bank shelves were overflowing with macaroni and cheese at the end of March.

In an unrelated move, after a year of meeting weekly for prayer, worship, encouragement, and study, the small group is transitioning into a monthly fellowship group due to the increasingly busy schedules of Wendy, Kelvin, and others. No group members could be reached to comment on whether or not they will collect more pasta this year.
