COPP Continues to Look for Friends December, 2001 - Orlando, FL Kelvin's job as Coordinator of Professional Programs (see previous newsletter) has kept him busy with building relationships between UCF and other institutions. While some sources suspect that Kelvin's trips out of town are just a cover for his daring exploits as an intelligence operative, Kelvin insists that he's merely making friends and being an ambassador for UCF and Course Development and Web Services (CDWS). During the last year, some of the institutions Kelvin has visited during 2000 are Columbus State University, University of Tulsa, the Naval Postgraduate School, and Lake-Sumter Community College. Additionally, representatives from many other institutions (national and international; it helps to be located in the number one tourist destination in the world) have visited UCF. CDWS offered UCF's nationally recognized faculty development course (IDL6543) for Lake-Sumter Community College (LSCC) during summer 2001 with Kelvin and a team of instructional designers driving from UCF to LSCC twice a week for 6 weeks. Also, CDWS has offered IDL6543 to the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) for the first time (of at least three anticipated offerings) as a part of a formal partnership between UCF and NPS. (No driving to NPS! Teleconferencing, an instructional designer on assignment, and a couple of plane trips empowered this offering.) Both LSCC and NPS hope to increase the number and quality of their online courses as a result of their involvement with CDWS and UCF. (See LSCC and NPS online course offerings. Also, see UCF's online course offerings.) |
