"Dr. K" Has Yet to Score December, 2001 - Orlando, FL With four semesters under his belt, Kelvin is on his way to completing his doctorate, but he says that the finish line is still some distance away. Kelvin comments that he has completed 15 semester hours of the approximately 60 hours needed to complete the degree. Even with Kelvin's feeble math ability (he was just a music major after all!), he calculates that he's about 25% done (not including the writing of the dissertation!). Sources close to Kelvin suggest that despite the time, effort, and stress, he seems to be enjoying his courses and tries to always relate the course material to projects at work so that there is a real world emphasis. Kelvin's projects (and his research interests) tend to center around the themes of adult learning, constructivism, learning environments, knowledge construction/management, and online learning. Recent papers and projects include works on Critical Pedagogy, Professional Development Curriculum, and Concept Mapping. |
