OWC Cable Park

We will be renting out OWC March 29th for an hour. The cable will start running at 8:30 so get there early. It will be free for all members of the club who have paid dues, which includes free rental gear ( board and vest ). Bring any other boards that you would want to ride like a kiteboard, skimboard, or surfboard. Come to the meeting the 26th and we will be setting up carpool's to OWC.

CKA TOUR STOP #5

February 14th-15th

University of South Florida and Bulls Kiteboarding teams up with the CKA and Water Culture Enterprises to bring you the 5th Stop of the Collegiate Kiteboarding Association's South Eastern Regional Tour. The event will consist of a Wakestyle Competition with a Boarder - X and a Freestyle Expression. If all goes to planned we will also have a showcase session where the top pro's from Saint Steezyburg will come out and session with CKA riders. The event will boast a full wake park consisting of at least two kickers and two sliders as well as winches and jet ski's in case of no wind. The after party will also be our biggest yet boasting a top notch performance on Eckerd College campus from renowned music group The Lee Boys (www.LeeBoys.com) as well as a celebration banquet auctioning off the kites used by Greenpeace and CKA riders in the No Take Marine Reserves Campaign. This event will have a $35 Registration fee and will be limited to fully enrolled College Kiteboarders. Registration will include a T-Shirt, Event Insurance, and two raffle tickets. We will also try and have tour hoodies on sale. Stop # 5 will take place at the legendary East Beach, Ft Desoto. This is a flatwater wakestyle heaven that is a part of Fort Desoto County Park. Fort Desoto is a non-alcoholic park so please be considerate with your behavior and clean up after yourselves. ****CKA TOUR STOP #4****

When:January 10-11th
Where: Lauderdale Beachside Hotel
4660 North Ocean Drive
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308

Tour stop #4 will be at Damon's beach right in front of the Lauderdale Beachside Hotel. Competition will consist of a Freestyle, Strapless, and Boarder-X competition. There will be a collegiate division and a non-collegiate division. The finalists from each division will then compete against each other for overall champion. Registration will be $25/rider at 10am riders meeting at 11am. If you miss registration you will not be able to compete. The after party will be at Automatic Slims and will begin at 11pm after the contest Saturday.

     Lynn University will be hosting their premier event in December for the 2008 - 2009 CKA Tour. The event will be held in Delray Beach and will be hosted by Lynn University in Conjunction with Superfly Kiteboarding.

CKA stop#2

    What’s up Kiteboarding Club? This is a reminder about the competition this weekend. It will be held in St. Petersburg on the 14th and 15th. If there is no wind (highly likely) then the backup weekend is on the 21st-23rd. So if you are interested in going, please contact one of the officers for information. The UNF comp was a great party with everyone that came, so don’t miss out on this one. video

Here are the disciplines of the comp:
Wakestyle: Riders must wear bindings and will be judged on wakestyle manuevers and their kicker/slider performance
Freestyle: All encompassing, Kiteloop, Freestyle, Big Air, ..... New Heat Formats different from the UNF Comp
Boarder - X: First boarder - x of the year big plans brought to the table by X-Rated Kiteboarding

Also, our next scheduled meeting is this Wednesday the 19th, in the RWC 6-7pm (date changed from previous). If there is wind, we will try to meet at the room and then go fly the trainers.
Wind is going to really start picking up here soon. Get ready for a lot of trips to the beach and start thinking about investing in a wetsuit.

If you want a slider board you will have to show up early and rent one separately. There will be prizes for best wipe out, best strapless, and best girl. Bring any other boards that you would want to ride like a kiteboard, skimboard, or surfboard. ** WE will be meeting at the parking lot next to the visitors center to organize carpools and will be leaving from there at 7:00 clock.**

Beach Day on Sunday

This Sunday we will all be out at Cherry Downs flying trainer kites and hanging out. I will also have the Banshee Bungee out there for some fun. The beach is located just south of cape canaveral just take 528 East all the way to the port and turn left at the first stoplight. Here is a link to it on google maps. Instructional Meeting!

MEETING THIS WEDNESDAY 9/24 !!!
Sorry about the short notice, but we will be holding a meeting this wednesday in HEC 111 from 7:30-8:45pm. That's the new engineering building. We will be giving out the SCC t-shirts to those who filled out an information sheet last meeting and also will be giving an INTRO to KITEBOARDING classroom lesson. Information about the upcoming competition in Jacksonville will also be discussed. We want as many people possible to go and represent UCF, competing and/or hanging out.

Triston Hays, Matt Beilan and Jared Serfozo have been making their appearance at the summer freshmen orientations getting newbies excited to learn about the awesome sport of kiteboarding.
