Homosexuality
Many homosexuals comfort themselves with the thought that their feelings are biologically programmed within, and therefore, they do not have to face any personal responsibility for their actions. This claim that homosexuals are born gay leads to the conclusion that homosexuality is natural and therefore normal.
There is no scientifically accepted evidence proving that homosexuals are "born gay". However, let's assume that science one day confirms a genetic or other hormonal bio-influence encouraging homosexual development. Do people with this biological influence have not submit to it?
Scientists believe that there are people born with bio-influences toward alcoholism, drug addiction, and criminal behavior. Does this mean such persons are required to become, or remain addicts and criminals? No.
Biology may influence tendencies, but it doesn't justify behavior. Neither does it eliminate personal responsibility, will, conscience or our ability to choose whether we will control or be controlled by our tendencies.
God does not just call homosexuals to abstain from sexually immorality. Heterosexuals are also called by God to live sexually pure lives. God holds everyone responsible for their actions.
So, even if homosexuality is one day proven to be biological influenced, homosexuals still are responcible for there actions.
Environmental influences and reactions to them are also used to explain homosexual tendencies. Nature produces a host of biologically influenced conditions, such as depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, racism, and nervous habits. These things are treated and are not desired traits. Society does not consider these `normal' just because they occur 'naturally'. This is an important point. Just because something occurs naturally does not mean that it is normal.
The Bible states that our present human condition is flawed, both biologically and psychologically. Humanity consequently struggles with many inherent and harmful weaknesses. Yet, God calls us to overcome and master our natural tendencies and weaknesses instead of justifying and indulging them.
The Bible states that we are responsible for our every sin.
Leviticus 5:17 Now if a person sins and does any of the things which the LORD has commanded not to be done, though he was unaware, he is still guilty and shall bear his punishment.
The Bible also speifically tells us to abstain from fornication.
1 Thessalonians 4:3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
Therefore, everyone who fornicates has to face personal responsibility for their actions. Specifically, homosexuals who participate in homosexual acts have to face the penalties for their actions.
Throughout the Bible, heterosexuals are commanded to abstain from sexual relationships outside of marriage. If heterosexuals have the capability to abstain from their desires, then homosexuals also have this capability.
God has made a place for all sexual activity to take place, in marriage. In marriage sexual activity is normal and proper. All sexual acts outside of marriage are sins against God.
The Bible clearly calls people to turn away from lust and seek God. The Bible also tells us that God gives us power over sin and the strength to conquer it.
The main argument against homosexual behavior and all sin is that people are able to choose their actions. A person can want to do something with all their heart and emotion and still choose not to do it. God gives us free will, the ability or power to choose what we do.
Homosexuals can choose to abstain from sexual relationships outside of marriage, and are called to do so.
