Becoming Like Christ

Christian: Christlike

A Christian manifests the qualities or spirit of Jesus, professing belief in Jesus as Christ and follows a lifestyle based on the life and teachings of Jesus. This lifestyle is not just an outward appearance, but a true commitment and dedication of the heart to Christ. A Christian is saved by the grace of God and not by works or selfrighteousness.

A Call To Actively Strive To Be More Like Christ

We should all be activily seeking out the will of God in our lives, and dedicating our lives to better serving Him. However, many times we get complacent, or get caught up in the daily activities of life. Sometimes, we have to stop and ask:

Am I diligent in my efforts to seek first the kingdom of God?

There is great danger in failing to actively serve God. When we fail to actively serve God, we become vulnerable to temptation, and might even become a mediocre Christian.

A Mediocre Christian - is a person that claims to be a Christian truly serving God, but is more interested in pleasing himself/herself or others rather than in pleasing God. A mediocre Christian is a person who often goes to church, but never seems to grow in grace or make any real progress in godliness. The mediocre Christian only prays and reads his Bible just enough to satisfy his own conscience, but not enough to become more like Christ. The mediocre Christian goes through the motions of Christianity but will not commit himself to Christ. (Note)

A Christian's life is faithfully and earnestly pursuing the will of God, by the grace of God, for the glory of God.

Ask yourself: Am I growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord? Do I have a singularity of purpose and passion for Christ as a Christian?

If you answer no, please go to God now in prayer and recommit yourself to a life that is truly serving God.

The following pages discusses how to truly live a Christian life by continuously seeking the will of God and striving to be more like Him.
