Welcome!

The Interdisciplinary Studies Program offers students the opportunity to pursue individually planned programs utilizing the rich resources delivered through UCF courses and faculty.

For undergraduates, Interdisciplinary Studies offers unique degree tracks and many ways to create personalized programs of study. Students create combinations by choosing two of thirteen academic study areas plus one of many dozen minor degrees offered at UCF together with the two cutting edge Cornerstone and Capstone core courses.

Graduate students combine three core courses, an eighteen credit hour concentration (from dozens of choices), and one of three capstone experiences: a thesis, a non-thesis option consisting of two elective courses (six credit hours) and a comprehensive examination, or a collaborative experience.

So what draws all of Interdisciplinary Studies together? Students in the program share a commitment to intellectual exploration, an interest in interdisciplinary work, belief in high-quality individualized education, and the motivation to learn for a variety of personal and professional reasons.

Important News for all Majors!

Effective this term, all Liberal Studies majors will become Interdisciplinary Studies majors. Students graduating in Summer 2007 and beyond will earn a B.A. or B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies that will be reflected on their diploma and transcript. Very shortly, the academic audit and internal advising transcript will reflect these changes.

While the name of the program has changed, degree requirements have not changed. If you are already a major with a catalog earlier than 2007-2008, your Interdisciplinary Studies major graduation requirements remain tied to your catalog year.

This change is the result of an extensive program review and recommendations by an external consultant, an internal task force, and members of the larger UCF and Orlando community. We expect great things from our students, and the Interdisciplinary Studies degree will deliver an excellent educational background for careers and further education. As always, if you have any questions, contact a member of our advising team in the Interdisciplinary Studies Office in Classroom 1, Suite 302, at ls@mail.ucf.edu, or 407-823-0144.
