
The Director, Mr. Christopher McCray, Jr., is responsible for the entire Housing operation. He oversees all functions of the department. Mr. McCray is available to discuss any concern that a resident may have about the Housing program. If you would like to talk with Mr. McCray, contact his secretary at 823-4663 to check his availability and/or set up an appointment.
The Associate Director, Mrs. Christi Hartzler, supervises the residence life functions for the residence facilities and is responsible for new housing facilities development. Mrs. Hartzler, in conjunction with the Residence Life Coordinators and Resident Assistants, handles most of the problems that residents encounter living in the residential facilities. Mrs. Hartzler sees students on a walk-in basis. You may also schedule an appointment by calling her (823-4663).
The Area Coordinators implement the residence life programs in the residential facilities. The coordinators supervise Resident Assistants and RHAPs and advise the Residence Hall Association, the Residence Life Standards Board, and the Residence Hall Honorary organization. The Coordinators are available to meet with resident students during regular business hours. If you cannot contact the Coordinator for your area, leave a message with the Housing Office receptionist(823-4663). Appointments outside regular office hours can be arranged.
Your "RA" is here to assist you. He/she has information to help solve your housing problems, knows what resources are available to you, and has experience with the academic system here at UCF. If you have problems with your room, need someone to talk to, or are having difficulties with your roommate, feel free to call on your RA.
There is an RA on duty whenever the Housing Office is closed. In Area I, the RA/RHAP duty station is in Polk 148, in Area II the RA/RHAP duty station is in the Area II Commons building.The Lake Claire Duty Station is in the Lake Claire Activities Room. You can reach the on-duty staff person by calling the duty station number listed above. Weekday RA duty starts at 5:00 p.m. and lasts until 8:00 a.m. Weekend duty starts at 5:00 p.m. Friday and lasts through 5:00 p.m. Sunday. Please contact the duty RA in his/her room by calling the duty station or the RA's individual phone number. There will be on-duty RAs at the duty stations from 8 p.m. to midnight nightly in Areas I & II, and from 5:00 p.m. to midnight nightly at Lake Claire. If you cannot reach an RA because he/she is on rounds, leave a message on the phone mail system. As soon as the RA returns to the office, he/she will check for messages. In the event of an emergency, contact the University Police.
The Residence Hall Auxiliary Patrol members are resident students who have been hired to help insure your safety from 11:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. daily. The RHAP staff makes frequent rounds through all the facilities and maintains radio contact with the University Police. They respond to problems and enforce housing policies. RHAPs for each area are based in their respective duty stations, and can be reached at the duty station numbers listed previously. If you need to contact a RHAP and he/she is out on rounds, leave a message on the phone mail system. They will return your call as soon as they complete their rounds. In the event of an emergency, contact the University Police.
The Head RHAP is responsible for the administration of the Residence Hall Auxiliary Patrol. He assists with inventories and damage assessments. Additionally, he responds to any inquires regarding employment opportunities with the RHAPs. You can leave a message for the Head RHAP with the receptionist at 823 4663.
