This
is a photo of DW and his younger brother Michael celebrating at the 2000
Brickyard 400 qualifying. For 25 minutes, Darrell Waltrip sat atop the scoring
pylon as the fastest qualifier. He was eventually bumped off the pole position
by Ricky Rudd in the #28 Havoline Ford, but on that day, DW was able to
celebrate with his brother and fans. When he got out of the car, DW treated
the fans to a celebratory "Ickey Shuffle", as he had done when
he won the 1989 Daytona 500 on February 19, 1989. This moment was the highlight
of DW's "Victory Tour 2000". He finished the race on August 5,
2000 in a well-deserved 11th place. |
