Dr. George E. Pawlas

     Dr. George Pawlas is a professor in the College of Education at the University of Central Florida.
     Prior to joining the faculty at UCF in 1991, Pawlas gained experience in public education as an elementary school teacher in Rocky River, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. He also was an elementary school principal there and in Columbia, South Carolina. He added other experiences at the South Carolina State Department of Education and as the principal of the lab school at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia.
     Pawlas is an active member of many professional organizations, including the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), the American Association of School Administrators (AASA), the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP), the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), the National Council of Professors of Educational Administration (NCPEA), and Kappa Delta Pi (KDP). He is also a member of the Council of Professors of Instructional Supervision (COPIS).
     A regular book reviewer for AASA, Pawlas has more than 40 articles published in professional journals and magazines. He maintains positions on several editorial committees, including The Educational Forum, Connections, The AASA Journal of Scholarship and Practice, The International Journal of Leadership in Education, and The Journal of School Public Relations.
     Dr. Pawlas earned B.S. and M.Ed. degrees at Kent State University. His Ph.D. was earned at the University of South Carolina in Columbia.
     The Administrator’s Guide to School/Community Relations was his first book; a second edition was published in 2005. He co-authored the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth editions of Supervision for Today’s Schools with Peter Oliva. He is a co-author of The Adjunct Professor’s Guide to Success. He has also contributed chapters to several other books.
     Pawlas is married to Sharon, the proud father of two grown sons, the grandfather of four, and a diehard Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns fan.
