Candidates seeking certification in Educational Leadership in the state of Florida are required by Florida State Board of Education Rule 6A-4.00821, FAC, to take the Florida Educational Leadership Examination (FELE).

The examination is aligned with the 10 Principal Leadership Standards and is divided into three subtests:

Subtest 1—Instructional Leadership
Covering standards on:
Instructional Leadership
Managing the Learning Environment
Learning, Accountability, and Assessment

Subtest 2—Operational Leadership
Covering standards on:
Human Resource Development
Decision-Making Strategies
Ethical Leadership
Technology

Subtest 3—School Leadership
Covering standards on:
Community and Stakeholder Partnerships
Diversity
Vision

Administration of the FELE is available via computer-based testing (CBT).
