 High Achievement Scholarship Program

If you are a recipient of this scholarship, please note the following:

WHAT'S REQUIRED TO RECEIVE THE SCHOLARSHIP?
Required Hours:
Enrolled in 12 or more hours each Fall and Spring term, to received your scholarship. You must be a full time student.

Required Forms and/or Applications:
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be done each and every year and the results must be in our office before June 1st. (National Merit and National Achievement Scholars only are exempt from this rule unless receiving other types of financial aid.)

HOW LONG WILL YOU RECEIVE THIS SCHOLARSHIP?
A total of 8 terms. (Engineering students receive a one term extension due to the length of their program of study.)

CAN YOU GET THE HIGH ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP IN THE SUMMER?
Yes, if you ask for it. There is a form available at the Front Desk of the Student Financial Assistance Office which you must sign and turn in prior to the beginning of Summer classes. Each Summer term used will count as one of the 8 terms of eligibility. You must enroll in 9 hours to get the scholarship in the Summer.

WHAT ARE THE RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS?
We check your academic progress once per year, after Spring grades are in. You must have successfully completed a total of 24 or more hours for the previous Fall and Spring terms. In addition, you must meet minimum renewal GPA requirement. (Please refer to the initial award letter you received from Undergraduate Admissions for verification of GPA.) If you fall below the hours or GPA requirements, you will be taken off of the Scholarship Program. If extenuating circumstances caused you to do poorly, you may submit a Scholarship Appeal.  All High Achievement Scholarship appeals must be received in the Office of Student Financial Assistance no later than June 30th. The Scholarship Appeal Form is available at the Front Desk of the Office of Student Financial Assistance or it can be downloaded here from our website.

CAN YOU TAKE TRANSIENT HOURS AT ANOTHER COLLEGE?
You may take hours at another college in addition to your course work at UCF and your scholarship will pay if you turn into the Office of Student Financial Assistance a legible copy of your signed transient form attached to a copy of your class schedule from the other college.

IF YOU NEED TO TAKE TIME OFF FROM YOUR STUDIES AT UCF, WILL YOU RETAIN YOUR HIGH ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP?
Possibly. You must do a Scholarship Appeal prior to the term(s) that you plan to be away from UCF, stating the reasons that you need the time. The UCF Scholarship Committee will review your request and decide the outcome. If you leave UCF without asking for the time off, you will not be reinstated to the Scholarship Program upon your return. Extenuating circumstances are the exception. If you want to co-op, you must let us know in writing which term you are planning to co-op so that we do not attempt to award your Scholarship for that term and continue you on the Scholarship for the next term.

IF YOU HAVE FURTHER QUESTIONS OR REQUIRE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, WHO SHOULD YOU CONTACT?
Lisa Minnick of Scholarships in the Office of Student Financial Assistance coordinates the High Achievement Scholarship Program.
