HIM Faculty Opportunities


Honors in the Major


  • Honors in the Major (HIM) is designed to encourage the best junior and senior students to undertake original, independent work.

  • HIM students design a thesis or project while working with a faculty mentor from the student's major program or department and two other faculty committee members. Students identify mentors and initiate the process.

  • Honors in the Major is coordinated by a College of Education committee and Honors College.



Faculty Opportunities with Honors in the Major


  • Mentorship of talented undergraduate students on an individual basis.

  • Direction of scholarly work of promising students.

  • Joint publication and/or presentation of original work.

  • Collaboration with other Honors in the Major faculty across the university.

  • Honorarium for thesis advisor.
