Current Courses (Fall, 2007):

EEX 4601: Introduction to Behavior Management
Study of management techniques based on applied behavioral analysis principles for modifying inappropriate behaviors and maintaining appropriate behaviors of exceptional students. It will include practical application of these principles that will increase skills in working with large groups and multiple groups of students with diverse learning, behavioral, linguistic, and cultural characteristics. (3 semester hours)

EEX3241: Methods for Academic Skills for Exceptional Students.
This course is designed to prepare students to assess and teach exceptional students. Through class discussion, cooperative learning activities, readings, activities, and mastery of course competencies, students will learn how to analyze and interpret data in order to develop and select effective teaching methods/strategies for exceptional students. Teacher questioning, teacher /peer-directed instruction, lesson plan development, along with selection and modification of materials will be included. Informal and formal measures will be used to analyze errors, plan appropriate educational interventions, and monitor and document student progress. (3  semester hours)

EEX 4003: Teaching Exceptional Students
Development and practice of effective teaching and management strategies for elementary general education teachers to use when working with students with mild disabilities, exceptional needs and at-risk in mainstream and inclusive settings. The course promotes the development of pre-service teachers as they grow into facilitating, reflective practitioners. (3 semester hours)
