About Dr. Villanueva

Dr. Villanueva Dr. Villanueva is an Associate Professor of Spanish-American Literature within the Department of Modern Languages & Literatures, at the University of Central Florida. His subject specialties include Poetry, Modernismo and Contemporary Spanish-American Literature.

A native Uruguayan, Dr. V. has taught at UCF for nearly ten years. He is an alumno of the University of Texas in Austin (BA: Spanish-American Literature) and Florida International University (MA/PhD: Spanish-American Literature). He was the first student at FIU to receive a Doctorate in Modern Language Studies.

In addition to being fluent in Spanish, English, and French, Dr. V. is also highly proficient in Italian, Portuguese and Catalán. He has also studied German, Latin and Greek at the collegiate level.

Dr. Villanueva has authored two books of literary criticism and has written several critical articles that have been published in the world's foremost literary journals. He is the author of seven volumes of poetry that can be found in the libraries of some of the most prestigious universities.
