Joining Central Florida Kendobu

Everyone is welcomed to join the club whether you’re an undergraduate, graduate, or faculty. The club is open to anyone interested in learning kendo.

There are 3 forms which should be filled out with #2 and #3 brought to your first practice to be turned in.
For your convenience, an editable PDF or Word File version of each form is provided when possible.

  1. Sports Club Personal Data Sheet (Online Form)
  2. Club Membership Form (.pdf) (.doc)
  3. Sports Club Waiver (.pdf)
If you are hesitant to pay the $15 because you are unsure as to whether or not you would like to join the club, feel free to come to the first few practices to check it out before you fully commit. We just ask that you at least electronically submit the SCC form and hand the other two forms to the club secretary first.

First Time Beginners Guide

What to Wear:

For beginners, it is very important that you dress appropriately so that your clothing will not restrict your movements as you start to learn and practice kendo. Comfortable and loose clothing such as T-shirts and shorts are recommended. Anyone with long hair should have their hair tied back.

* Note: Kendo is practiced with bare feet therefore you will be barefooted throughout the entire practice!

What to Bring:

No equipment is necessary, a shinai (bamboo sword) will be provided by the club. However if you find you would like to continue kendo, it is suggested that you obtain your own shinai.
