Dubois opened the meeting at 1:25 pm. He said camera crews are out now in Orlando shooting beauty shots of UCF. He is concerned about faculty returning samples for inclusion in the case studies. He gave out a legal-size handout detailing the planned schedule of the 14 videos. They have already have enough material for 12 videos. The question was asked if the course has FEEDS included. It does not at this time. Morse will check on it.
Each half hour segment is 28 minutes and 30 seconds, suitable for broadcast. They are designed with progression in mind. All Consortium institutions will be given copies of the tapes. The tapes may also be distributed within the state upon request. The shooting schedule goes through the extended classroom. Dubois said he hope they get interviews with faculty and student reaction. The next step is to review the narrative and then get sound bites from all the presidents.
Scheduling of campus case studies would be best for February/March. A week per institution would be sufficient.
Dubois asked if he could interview some of the case studies. The committee agreed this would be fine. Morse sees one print bound text to go with the entire course. Also text can be saved as ASCII and added to the homepage. It was suggested that IT people could interview case heroes to get greater feedback.
Committee members then discussed what presidents could talk about. Vision and what is thought to be the advantages to your students was thought to be best.
It was decided that Friday of next week February 2nd would be the cut off date for faculty inclusion in the videos.
Some upcoming video conferencing events to be held in the presidents' board room include: 1:00 - 2:30 Educating Amy 2:00 - 4:00 Funding Sources for Distance Learning
March 5th - 1:00 - 2:30 Educating Amy Board Room The topic is academic concerns.
Next meeting will be February 28th at 1:30 pm.
