The Cypress Dome

Visual Art and Video Submission Guidelines

All UCF students, undergraduate and graduate, are eligible to submit work to the magazine (the Cypress Dome staff will not be considered for publication).

• The artwork must be sent in .JPEG format
• Resolution: minimum 600 dpi
• Size: minimum 9 x 6 inches (in order for all pieces to be considered for the cover of the issue)
• Maximum of 10 artwork submissions per student

Graphic Literature

In addition to photography and other forms of traditional artwork, graphic literature (which is, more or less, illustrated prose) may be submitted for consideration for publication as well.

ONE submission equals: maximum 12 pages.

Graphic literature submissions MUST include both text and artwork and MUST be in black and white.

Video Submission Guidelines

For the first time this year Cypress Dome will be accepting video submissions to be published on our website. Please submit only one video.

Our ONE and only deadline: Tuesday, December 1, 2009

Submissions MUST have a cover page in Microsoft Word with name, address, phone number, email address, title(s) of submission(s), and category. The cover page must be included as a separate attachment; students' names should only appear on the cover page.

Submissions must be emailed to cdome@mail.ucf.edu with the subject line "Artwork Submission."

Submission Response

All work will be reviewed by the editors, evaluated according to artistic merit, and then accepted or denied. Responses will be emailed to the address included on the cover page by the end of February 2010. Manuscripts will not be returned. The staff will not be able to respond by phone.

Awards

Awards are given for the best submissions in each category. The Cypress Dome editors will select the winning entries. A celebratory reading will be held upon the release of the magazine in late spring 2010.
